Brian T. Licata is a New York City–based documentary director and producer focused on long-form, observational nonfiction.

He is the director of DOM IRRERA IS NOT A LEGEND, a feature documentary examining the discipline and longevity of stand-up comedian Dom Irrera. The film was developed over multiple years through embedded access, long-form interviews, and on-the-road observation.

Brian’s work centers on craft over mythology. He is drawn to subjects who continue working long after recognition stops being the point.

Before transitioning fully into documentary filmmaking, Brian spent over fifteen years inside the comedy and digital media world, producing podcasts, long-form video, and stand-up content. His proximity to the craft of comedy—and to Dom himself—formed the foundation for his first feature.

His filmmaking approach favors patience, behavioral storytelling, and restraint. Rather than explaining his subjects, he observes them.
